Nairnville sessions

this term we've been doing sports and gymnastics.
So far we've done rippa rugby and soccer and and then gymnastics rountines and stuff.
I kinda like the sports but I liked the Gymnastics better. I liked the air track the best. I love doing my flick flacks and backflips and other cool things. I haven't really learnt any new skills so far because I've been taught all of them before. I really like trying everything out though. I like balancing on whatever there is to balance on idk haha. I also liked swinging round the bar. But yeah I feel invloved in any group. I really enjoy the sessions and I don't think I need to get anything more out of it. I don't think they need to improve anything either...

German- Deutsch

Guten Tag!
In class we've been learing german every Thursday with Ms Rodgers. I've learnt heaps and I really enjoy it. We have learnt greetings, farewells, how to say you name and ask peoples names, number to 100, how to say how old you are and how to ask, how to ask how you are and replies and lots more. I might continue German in college because I really enojoy it and its fun. German could also be useful if someone goes travelling when they are older and they either visit germany or see some german family friends etc.

persevering

So on Saturday I had a swim meet which I was super nervous about because I entered myself into 800metres Freestyle. And I had never swam that long in a race before. It also didn't help that at tumbling 3 hours before I was practising my round off back-handspring backtuck and obviously at least on of them have to fail and I land on my middle finger which comes out as a purple bruise. So anyway that meet was held at the worst ever pool to swim backstroke in but thank goodness there was no backstroke; Coastlands Aqautic Centre (Kapiti). Previously I've done a few races there so I was quite familiar with the pool. You could choose to swim 400metres Freestyle, 1500 metres freestyle and 800.

It was time to race, the butterflies in my stomach were flipping and I didn't feel good. My googles also felt too tight on my head so I took them off and loosened them. They still didn't feel right but the whistle to get on the blocks had blown so I had to forget about it. The race had started. Oh no. My googles. They slipped a little bit off my head. "Thank god they actually stayed on!" I thought, but I had to do something about it. So as I pulled my hand out of the water to go into another stroke I grabbed my googles and pulled them down. Slowly it took a few more strokes for them to be back in place. Everything was going smoothly now and I was super happy I fixed my problem

Just as I thought nothing could get better I slipped on the opposite wall (it was really, really slippery!!!) and again and again! Oh no. But I got over it and finished the race with actually pretty good times which I was super surprised about.

I showed perseverance when I pulled my googles back into place and had to get my head back into the game and when I slipped I thought about it and how I could prevent it next time. Perseverance is probably easiest for me and the most challenging is maybe creativity because you have to think of a new and different way of dong something

awesomesauce books♥

Front CoverOver the past few weeks I've read lots of books that I've really enjoyed. I found that I really like David Walliams, so I have read most of his books. The one that I most vividly remember and liked the most was the boy in the dress.

Its about a boy who wouldn't mind being a girl for a day or being put into a glamorous dress and being made up. Dennis (the main character) becomes good friends with a girl Lisa (who he has had a crush on for quite a while even though she is 2 years older than him) who invites him over to her house and thinks it would be "funny" to dress him up in a sparkly, sequined dress she recently made. She then coats his face with make up and puts him in high heels which makes him look very much like a girl. Lisa encourages him to go with her to the local shop and fools the shop owner - a good friend of Dennis's that "Denise" is a french exchange student who speaks very little English. After the shop owner is fooled Lisa wants Dennis to come to school as "Denise", which he does. But he tried to kick a football and reveals that he is a girl, the headmaster finds out and Dennis gets expelled.

If you want to find out what happens next, read the book! By tomorrow lunch time there will be a David Walliams display made by Grace, Olivia, Ethan and I and you can get it out and see for yourself.

What I liked aout this book is that sometimes you don't need to be afraid to express how you feel and that there is a happy ending (you will have to read it). I  would recommend it to ages 10+
